Real Vikings

The Vikings are often depicted as bearded men in horned helmets who plundered and pillaged, or as fearsome pagans who came to terrorise the inhabitants of Britain, Ireland, and beyond. While aspects of the legend are true, the Viking Age is far richer than we’re often led to believe. Narrated by actor Iain Glen, Real Vikings brings this seminal period of history to life, with contributions from leading experts, original music, and immersive sound design. Weekly episodes take listeners on journeys from Greenland to North Africa, and from Constantinople to Canada, following mighty warlords (like Eric Bloodaxe and Olga of Kyiv) and master navigators (like Leif Erikson), and uncovering the real figures behind the legends of the sagas.
