The Follo Line Project: Exploring medieval Oslo

The archaeological investigations recently undertaken in the middle of Oslo’s medieval town took place on a vast scale. One of the first things that visitors noticed was the interplay between the archaeologists and the massive construction operation. From a distance, the excavations evoked an anthill teeming with activity, calling to mind childhood memories of Richard Scarry picture books. Working under such circumstances meant the team had to respond both to archaeological issues and to the project construction schedule.
