UNFOLDING HISTORY. WRITING IN ANCIENT EGYPT

An exhibition exploring the origins of writing, featuring papyri from Elephantine that had been stored in the Brooklyn Museum since 1916 and have never before been put on public display. These texts are accompanied by a range of rarely seen objects on loan from the Brooklyn Museum.

MAVERICK KINGS: THREE VISIONARY PHARAOHS OF EGYPT’S GOLDEN AGE

An exhibition of objects from the MFA collection and loans from four other international museums, focusing on three pharaohs from the Eighteenth Dynasty: Hatshepsut, Amenhotep III, and Akhenaten. Highlights include monumental statues and Hatshepsut’s royal sarcophagus, which was recut for her father Thutmose I.

TREASURES OF THE PHARAOHS

A major international exhibition of 130 artefacts from the Egyptian museums in Cairo and Luxor. Highlights include gold jewellery, the Menkaure Triad, the outer coffin of Thuya, and new findings from the recently excavated ‘Golden City’ in Luxor.
