• Egyptian and Greek pottery discovered by Israeli archaeologists at Megiddo (‘Armageddon’) confirms that Egyptian forces and Greek mercenaries were present around the period of the biblical battle between King Josiah and Pharaoh Necho II, c.609 BC.

• A recently released video of the Sudan National Museum in Khartoum shows that almost all of the museum’s 100,000 artefacts have been stolen or destroyed during the civil war, with only a few large statues left standing.

A gold anklet belonging to Amanishakheto, Queen of Kush – sadly, one of the items now missing from the looted Sudan National Museum.

• More than 160 artefacts from the Tomb of Tutankhamun have now been moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum ahead of the official opening on 3 July.
