Stirling

King’s Park Fort 2025
Stirling
5-15 August

Part of an ongoing programme of research into the Forth Valley’s late prehistoric settlement pattern and how native peoples interacted with the Roman conquest, this dig is open to beginners and is meant to be fun and relaxed.

North Yorkshire

Bainbridge Archaeological Training Field School
Bainbridge, Wensleydale
Week 1: 8-12 September; Week 2: 15-19 September

Join Mercian Archaeological Services CIC for a week-long training excavation focused on a possible medieval manorial complex in the Yorkshire Dales. You will be taught excavation methods, recording skills, and finds-processing. The course is suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced diggers, and includes a mixture of classroom sessions and hands-on training.

North Yorkshire

We Dig York

23 June-25 July

Join York Archaeology to uncover 2,000 years of work, war, and worship in Walmgate, York, exploring Roman, medieval, and Victorian layers, including the lost church of St Peter-in-the-Willows.

Explore a settlement associated with a Roman fort located just outside the city centre of modern Derby, with hands-on training in excavation, finds processing, and surveying from experts at York Archaeology.

This short course is aimed at anyone over 18 who wants an insight into or introduction to what happens to the finds and records after the digging is done. The team welcomes everyone from the total novice to a student looking to widen their skill set.
