REVIEW BY KK
Published from the papers presented at the Belfast Bronze Age Forum, which took place on 9-10 November 2013, the editor makes a point of noting that the proceedings from this forum are not normally published, but that it was decided to do so in this case because of the ‘high standard and overall thematic coherence’ of the presentations and posters. And he was not wrong. For conference proceedings, this volume is unusually cohesive, with strong themes on connections within the landscape, mining, and metalwork. Little-studied areas, such as the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Man are also covered, providing a comprehensive view of the Bronze Age in the British Isles.
While it has been 12 years since the forum took place, the contents do not feel dated, with most papers having been updated in the intervening years to reflect new evidence and changing perspectives. This makes the volume relevant today, a helpful addition to our corpus of knowledge on the period in the north Atlantic.
