A new multidisciplinary research facility has been created at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat to provide specialist micro-analysis of archaeological finds. The first of its kind in the Middle East, the new centre houses state-of-the-art technology to allow the study and preservation of ancient materials, and includes a biobank and DNA laboratory for the documentation and conservation of biological material, including human remains. The facility also houses a mobile lab for analysis and testing on-site.
