Ramesses II Ka statue found in Giza

Measuring 105cm high, this is the first granite Ka statue to be discovered.

A rare pink granite statue of Ramesses II with the Ka symbol above his head has been found near the Temple of Ptah site in the Mit Rahina area of Giza.

Measuring 105cm high, this is the first granite Ka statue to be discovered – most examples found so far are made of wood.

The back pillar (below left) bears the king’s Horus name: “strong bull beloved of Ma’at”. It was discovered together with block fragments from the temple depicting the god Ptah (below right).
