A Dutch team from Leiden University has discovered a previously unknown Ramesside tomb in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna. Wall inscriptions name the owner as an official called Paser. The tomb has a typical Theban layout, with an open courtyard containing a mud-brick bench (mastaba) and a niche for a funerary stela. A stairway flanked by ramps leads to an inverted-T rock chapel, and multiple underground burial chambers with painted decoration including representations of Paser and his wife. Structural reinforcement work and restoration of the wall paintings will be carried out in upcoming seasons.
