• The Ptolemaic el-Shatby necropolis in Alexandria is now open to the public following three years of conservation work.
• A large number of sites – including the Giza Pyramids, and the temples of Karnak, Luxor, Edfu, and Kom Ombo – have now gone cashless, so all visitors are required to use cards to pay for entry.
• The obelisk in the Place de la Concorde in Paris has been fitted with a new pyramidion made from stainless steel covered with gold leaf. The monument was built by Ramesses II, and originally stood in front of Luxor Temple.
• A small figurine of Hathor, which is at least 3,000 years old, has been found on a beach in southern Israel. The object was washed up following stormy weather.
