Discover past Prehistoric and Roman settlements of Sussex and join Brighton and Hove Archaeological Society excavating a late Iron Age and Early Roman site near Brighton. The site comprises an enclosure which contained structures, including a granary and a grain storage pit. Burial evidence has also been recovered from the site in the form of 5 infant interments. This season, the excavation will move westwards examining a large pit dated to the Middle Bronze Age and features dated to the Iron Age and Roman periods.
Excavation training and tools will be provided on this excavation, but participants will need to bring their own refreshments.
The excavation is suitable for ages 17yrs and upwards.
The cost for the excavation is free, however, participants must purchase membership of Brighton and Hove Archaeological Society – £20, or £10 for students!
