Join the Colchester Archaeological Group (CAG) and Fordham Local History & Archaeological Society for an excavation at Fordham Hall, Essex. Phase I & II excavations, carried out since 2015 have revealed the footprint of a Roman building, with baths and a suite of rooms with hypocausts, painted wall plaster, marble fittings and other high-status features. For Phase III, starting in 2023, two large areas have been machine stripped where geophysics and other evidence suggest the presence of ancillary Roman buildings and a possible cemetery.

Participants aged between 8-15 must be accompanied by a supervising adult onsite. Over 16s are welcome to join in the excavations.
The dig is free, but membership of CAG (Adults £14, Students £4) is encouraged. Participants must provide their own transport and food.
